Subject: PRESS RELEASE: Memorial Service, East View Cemetery, Newton, N.C. Sunday, May 25th, 2014 @ 2 p.m.
The annual “Memorial Day Service” held by the American Legion Newton Post 16 will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, May 25th, at East View Cemetery, Newton, N.C. at the main Flag Pole & Stand area. Mayor Ann Steadman, Mayor of Newton will read the “Proclamation”, Memorial address by, Lt. Col. Luther Ray of Newton, color guard by, Navy Jr. ROTC Team, from Newton-Conover High School commanded by Lt. Cmdr. Minzer and opening and closing prayers by Reverend Dixon Adams of Post 16 Newton. The service will be directed by American Legion Post Commander Ken Dellinger and assisted by Commander Elect, Ron Harris. The Newton Post 16 Honor Guard, Commanded by Sgt. At Arms Peggy Isaac will perform the 21 gun salute. There will be a roll call to present wreaths/flowers by the following organizations: United Daughters of Confederacy; John Hoyle Chapter of the DAR; Hickory Tavern Chapter of the DAR; Captain Charles F.
