The Friday night dances at Newton Post 16 of the American Legion are for the enjoyment of our members, their famlies & invited guest from the public domain. Our main dance hall seats 200 patrons and we always have plenty of room for anyone who comes. We have approximately 130 seats for regular members, guests and their guests which always leaves about 70 seats vacant for those who walk in. The entry fee is $10.00 which includes cups, ice, soft drinks, water & coffee as well as pop corn most nights. Enjoy our free refreshments but please do not take them out with you. Consume all you need while in our dance hall. Post 16 has all the permits to BYOB regardless of the kind. We require names on the containers for security. No drunkeness, foul language or bad behavior will be tolerated. We have ladies in the house. Violators will be asked to leave and not return in the future for serious offenses. Our desk managers enforce the rules. If you have a problem see one of the managers and they will address your issue. These Legionnaires are dedicated and have been doing the job for years and years. We will protect our guest in everyway we can. The dress code is casual but no tank tops, T-Shirts or short shorts are allowed. Bermuda length shorts are acceptable. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., music starts at 8 p.m. and stops about 11:30 p.m. Same time each and every Friday night. Weather permitting we will be there every Friday night unless we publish otherwise on this site or FACEBOOK. We have a email notification system on a secure server, name is not necessary. The email sign up sheet is on the right corner of the check in desk if you want weekly email updates. All we need is your email address, nothing else. Your address will not be given to anyone else under any circumstance. The only email you will receive from us is the weekly band playing, special information, weather cancellation etc. No solicitations from Post 16. On a few ocasions we have a change in dress code and price for Christmas or New Years and other special ocasions with meals etc. These will be published well in advance. All procees from our dances are used to pay for electricty, water, sewage, clean-up, building maintenance but mostly to support American Legion programs such as "Legion Boys State", helping veterans, local high school JROTC and shooting programs etc. There are no paid employees or members who work at our post. We sincerely appreciate the support of everyone who walks in our front doors. Have a great time, great dance, great fellowship and fun with the most friendly people around.
Best personal regards,
Newton Post 16 Dance Committee
